Overview
Prevention is the best treatment
The healthiest, most affordable dentistry is the kind that prevents problems from ever taking hold. Regular check-ups let us catch tiny cavities and early gum issues before they require fillings, root canals or extractions.
Professional scaling and polishing removes the hardened plaque that brushing alone cannot reach, protecting your gums and keeping your breath fresh and your teeth bright. Even people who brush carefully build up some calculus over time, so a regular professional clean is a normal part of looking after your mouth, not a sign that you are doing something wrong.
We also screen for early signs of oral cancer and other conditions at every visit, because catching anything early gives the best possible outcome. The check is quick and painless, and it is part of every routine examination.
At World Dental Care in Amritsar, prevention is the starting point for everything we do. A short visit twice a year, combined with good habits at home, usually means fewer surprises, simpler treatment and lower costs over your lifetime.
Is it right for you?
Who it's for and signs you may need a visit
Preventive care is for everyone, whatever your age. These signs suggest it may be time to book a check-up sooner rather than later.
- It has been over six monthsIf your last check-up or cleaning was more than six months ago, a routine visit helps catch small problems while they are still easy to treat.
- Gums that bleed when you brushBleeding, redness or puffiness along the gum line is often an early sign of gum inflammation. In many cases it settles with professional cleaning and better home care.
- Stains or rough depositsYellow or brown deposits near the gums, especially behind the lower front teeth, are usually hardened calculus that only professional scaling can remove. Calculus also gives bacteria a rough surface to cling to, which keeps gums irritated.
- Persistent bad breathBreath that does not improve with brushing can point to plaque build-up, gum problems or decay. A check-up helps find the cause.
- New sensitivity to hot or coldA sudden twinge with cold drinks or sweets may signal early decay, worn enamel or receding gums. Your dentist will advise on the next step.
- Higher risk factorsTobacco use, diabetes, a sugary diet, dry mouth or a family history of gum disease all raise your risk, so regular reviews are especially worthwhile. Pregnancy and certain medical conditions can also affect your gums, so tell us about any changes in your health.
Treatment options
Everything that keeps your smile healthy
Our preventive services work together. Your dentist will recommend the ones that suit your teeth, your age and your individual risk.
Routine check-ups
Comprehensive six-monthly examinations to catch issues while they are small and easily treated. We check each tooth, your gums, your bite and the soft tissues of your mouth, using RVG digital X-rays and intraoral cameras where needed.
Scaling and polishing
Professional cleaning removes hardened calculus and surface stains, protecting gums and brightening teeth. Your teeth are left smooth, which makes it harder for new plaque to stick.
Fluoride treatments
A protective fluoride coating strengthens enamel and helps prevent decay, for adults and children alike. It is quick to apply and especially useful if you are prone to cavities.
Dental sealants
A thin protective layer on the grooves of back teeth shields them from cavity-causing bacteria. Sealants are painless to place and need no drilling. With good care, they can protect the chewing surfaces for several years, and we check them at each visit.
Oral cancer screening
A quick, painless check at every visit so anything unusual is spotted as early as possible. We look at your tongue, cheeks, palate and gums for any patches or changes.
Hygiene guidance
Personalised brushing, flossing and diet advice tailored to your specific needs and risk factors. We show you techniques that fit easily into your daily routine. For parents, we also explain how to care for children's teeth at each stage.
Step by step
What happens at a preventive visit
- 1
A short chat
We ask about your general health, any medicines you take and any concerns you have noticed, such as sensitivity or bleeding gums.
- 2
Careful examination
Your dentist examines your teeth, gums and soft tissues and screens for oral cancer. Digital X-rays or intraoral camera images are taken only when they are needed. We compare any findings with your previous records so small changes are not missed.
- 3
Scaling and polishing
Calculus and stains are gently removed from above and just below the gum line, then your teeth are polished smooth.
- 4
Protective treatment
If suitable, fluoride or sealants are applied to give extra protection to teeth that are more at risk of decay.
- 5
Your personal plan
We explain what we found in plain language, share home-care tips and suggest when to return. Any treatment needed comes with an itemised written estimate.
Why choose us
Why choose World Dental Care for preventive dentistry
For over a decade, our Amritsar clinic, led by founder and chief dental surgeon Dr. Rubinder Singh, has believed that the best dentistry is often the least dentistry. We favour conservative care, and prevention is where that begins. We take time to explain what we see, so you understand your own mouth and can make informed choices.
Our team, including Senior Dental Hygienist Meera Sandhu, follows ADA and ISO sterilisation protocols, with Class-B autoclaves and disposable barriers for every patient. We also run free screening camps in schools and rural areas, because prevention matters for the whole community.
- Gentle cleaning by an experienced hygiene team
- Oral cancer screening at every check-up
- RVG digital X-rays and intraoral cameras
- Itemised written estimates before any treatment
Aftercare
Looking after your teeth between visits
What you do every day matters as much as your check-ups. These simple habits help keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Brush twice a day
Brush for about two minutes in the morning and before bed with a fluoride toothpaste and a soft brush, paying attention to the gum line. Replace your toothbrush every three months, or sooner if the bristles look worn.
Clean between your teeth
Use floss or interdental brushes once a day. This reaches the areas where gum disease and cavities often begin. Your hygienist can show you which size of interdental brush suits the gaps between your teeth.
Watch sugar and snacking
How often you have sugary food and drinks matters more than how much. Try to keep sweets to mealtimes and drink plenty of water.
Avoid tobacco
Smoking and chewing tobacco stain teeth, harm gums and raise the risk of oral cancer. We are happy to talk through ways to cut down. Limiting alcohol also helps protect the soft tissues of your mouth.
Come back on time
Keep to the recall interval your dentist recommends, usually every six months. If you notice pain, swelling or a sore that does not heal within two weeks, contact us sooner.
