Overview

Building healthy habits early

A child's earliest experiences at the dentist shape how they feel about oral health for the rest of their lives. Our priority is to make those visits gentle, friendly and even fun.

We focus on prevention, using fluoride varnishes and protective sealants to keep little teeth strong, and we treat cavities with the most minimally invasive, painless techniques available.

Patience and kindness guide everything we do. We take time to explain each step in words children understand, so they leave smiling and look forward to coming back.

At World Dental Care in Amritsar, we also see parents as partners. We show you how to look after your child's teeth at home, answer your questions without judgement, and work with you to keep visits calm and positive as your child grows. Quick digital scans and chairside digital X-rays help keep visits short and comfortable for children.

Is it right for you?

Who it's for and signs your child may need a visit

Every child benefits from regular check-ups from their first tooth onwards. These signs suggest it is a good idea to book an appointment soon.

  • The first tooth has arrivedIdeally your child should see a dentist by their first birthday or when the first tooth appears. An early, relaxed visit sets the tone for the years ahead.
  • White, brown or dark spotsChalky white patches or brown spots on the teeth, especially near the gum line, can be early signs of decay. Caught early, they can often be managed with simple preventive care.
  • Toothache or sensitivityIf your child complains of pain when eating, avoids chewing on one side, or is sensitive to cold or sweet foods, a check-up helps find the cause before it gets worse.
  • Thumb-sucking or dummy useThese habits are normal in young children, but if they continue as the adult teeth come through they can affect how the teeth and jaws develop.
  • Crowding or an uneven biteTeeth coming in crooked, baby teeth lost very early or very late, or a bite that does not meet evenly may benefit from an early orthodontic check. Many minor issues simply need monitoring.
  • A knock or fallChildren often bump their teeth while playing. If a tooth is chipped, loose, darkened or knocked out, call us straight away. For a serious injury, seek emergency medical care first.

Treatment options

Caring for every stage of childhood

From the first tooth to the teenage years, our children's services are designed to keep teeth healthy and visits stress-free.

First dental visits

Gentle introductory check-ups that help your child feel relaxed and comfortable from the very start. Young children can often sit on a parent's lap while we count their teeth and take a quick look.

Fluoride varnish

A quick protective coating that strengthens enamel and helps shield young teeth from decay. It is painted on in seconds, with no drilling or injections.

Pit and fissure sealants

A thin protective layer over the grooves of back teeth, sealing out the bacteria that cause cavities. Sealants are usually placed on permanent back teeth soon after they come through.

Painless cavity repair

Minimally invasive fillings using child-friendly techniques to keep treatment comfortable and stress-free. We explain each step first and go at your child's pace. Where decay is very small, we may be able to simply monitor it and strengthen the enamel instead.

Habit counselling

Guidance on thumb-sucking, diet and brushing to support healthy development and lasting habits. We give practical, realistic tips that work for busy families.

Early orthodontic checks

Monitoring jaw and tooth growth so any developing issues can be guided at the ideal age. Our team includes orthodontist Dr. Karan Kapoor, who can advise if treatment may be helpful.

Step by step

What to expect at your child's visit

  1. 1

    A friendly welcome

We greet your child by name, let them look around and introduce our instruments as friendly helpers. There is no rush, and a parent can stay close throughout.

  2. 2

    Tell, show, do

We tell your child what we are going to do in simple words, show them on a finger or toy, and only then do it. This gives children a sense of control and helps them relax.

  3. 3

    A gentle check-up

We look at each tooth, the gums and the bite, and check how the teeth are developing. X-rays are taken only when needed, using low-dose RVG digital X-rays.

  4. 4

    Prevention and care

If suitable, we polish the teeth and apply fluoride varnish or sealants. Any treatment that is needed is explained to you first, with an itemised written estimate.

  5. 5

    Praise and a plan

Every child leaves with praise for doing well. We share home-care tips with you and suggest when to come back, usually every six months.

Aftercare

Helping your child's teeth stay healthy at home

Small daily habits make the biggest difference. These tips help protect your child's teeth between visits.

Brush twice a day

Start cleaning as soon as the first tooth appears. Use a smear of fluoride toothpaste for toddlers and a pea-sized amount from around age three. Help your child brush until they can do it well on their own, usually around seven or eight.

Limit sugary snacks and drinks

Keep sweets, biscuits, juices and fizzy drinks to mealtimes rather than spreading them through the day. Water and milk are the best everyday drinks for teeth.

Avoid bedtime bottles

Putting a child to bed with a bottle of milk or juice lets sugars sit on the teeth all night. If a bottle is needed at bedtime, plain water is the safest choice.

Make it fun

Brushing charts, a favourite song or brushing together as a family can turn a chore into a routine your child enjoys. Praise effort rather than perfection.

Protect teeth during sport

If your child plays contact sports, ask us about a mouthguard. If a tooth is injured, call or WhatsApp us on our 24x7 helpline and we'll guide you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about kid care at our Amritsar clinic. Still unsure? Send us a message.

Ask on WhatsApp
When should my child first see a dentist?
Ideally by their first birthday or when the first tooth appears. Early visits catch issues early and help your child grow comfortable with the dentist. A first visit is usually a short, relaxed look at the teeth and a chat with you about feeding, brushing and teething.
How do you handle a frightened child?
With patience and a gentle, playful approach. We use simple tell-show-do explanations, never rush, and create a calm environment so children feel safe and in control. If a child is not ready on the day, we would rather stop and try again another time than push ahead. Building trust matters more than finishing quickly.
Are baby teeth really that important?
Yes. Baby teeth hold space for adult teeth, help with speech and chewing, and decay in them can affect the permanent teeth developing underneath. Losing a baby tooth too early to decay can let neighbouring teeth drift into the gap, which may lead to crowding later.
How can I prevent cavities in my child?
Regular brushing with the right amount of fluoride toothpaste, limiting sugary snacks and drinks, and routine check-ups with sealants and fluoride all make a big difference. Your dentist will advise which preventive steps suit your child's age and risk.
Is fluoride safe for children?
Yes, when used in the right amounts. Fluoride varnish applied at the clinic and the correct amount of fluoride toothpaste at home are widely recommended to help prevent decay. Supervise brushing so young children spit out the toothpaste rather than swallow it.
Can I stay with my child during the appointment?
Of course. Most young children feel more secure with a parent nearby. As children get older, some prefer a little independence, and we are happy to follow what works best for your family.
What should I do if my child knocks out a tooth?
Stay calm and call us straight away on our 24x7 helpline. If it is an adult tooth, hold it by the crown, not the root, and keep it in milk until you reach us. Baby teeth are not usually put back. For any head injury, seek emergency medical care first.
How do I book my child's appointment?
Call or WhatsApp us on +91 81464 51500, or email doctor@worlddentalcare.com. Our Amritsar clinic is open Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM and 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and closed on Sunday.
